- [Working Group 5](https://infotechdata.eu/working-group-5/): WG5 aims to maximise the visibility, accessibility, and impact of INFOTECH-DATA by strategically disseminating scientific outcomes and engaging researchers, industry, and wider stakeholder communities. This WG will ensure that the protocols, tools, and knowledge generated within the Action are communicated effectively and adopted across Europe and beyond. WG5 plays a cross-cutting role, supporting all Working Groups by coordinating outreach, education, website and social media content, and promotional materials, as well as contributing to annual and final reporting. It also leads activities such as organizing meetings, training schools, and thematic workshops. Overall, WG5 ensures that the Action’s outputs reach the right audiences, foster community building, and support long-term implementation of the methodologies developed.
- [Working Group 4](https://infotechdata.eu/working-group-4/): The overall goal of WG4 is to design a robust, open-access data infrastructure that enables the storage, management, and reuse of standardised techno-functionality data generated within INFOTECH-DATA. WG4 describes the digital and data-science backbone of the Action by translating experimental and conceptual outcomes from other Working Groups into interoperable, FAIR-compliant data assets for analysis, comparison, and predictive modelling. By developing database architectures, metadata schemas, data ingestion pipelines, and quality-control mechanisms, WG4 ensures that techno-functionality data becomes findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable across the European food science community and beyond. The infrastructure developed within WG4 will not only support the immediate objectives of INFOTECH-DATA, but will also provide a sustainable foundation for long-term data-driven research, cross-domain integration, and predictive decision-making in food innovation.
- [Working Group 3](https://infotechdata.eu/working-group-3/): The overall goal of WG3 is to develop and validate standardised methodologies for techno-functionality analysis. This WG will be divided into sub-WGs for each functionality type as defined by WG2. In particular, the WG3 will focus on solubility, emulsifying, gelling and foaming properties of food ingredients consisting of proteins, carbohydrates, lipid-like molecules, or/and mixtures of these ingredients.
- [Working Group 2](https://infotechdata.eu/working-group-2/): The overall goal of WG2 is to support food structure development by identifying and structuring the most relevant information required on the techno-functional properties of food ingredients. WG2 will have three main activities.
- [Working Group 1](https://infotechdata.eu/working-group-1/): This WG aims to validate the combined analytical and data-driven approach developed within INFOTECH-DATA through engagement with relevant scientists, data infrastructure providers, industry stakeholders, and policy actors in Europe and globally. This WG serves as a transversal group linking the Action with existing data infrastructure, standardisation initiatives, data-science projects, industry stakeholders, and policy actors. Through systematic mapping and stakeholder engagement, WG1 ensures that the analytical and data-driven methodologies developed in INFOTECH-DATA are robust, industrially relevant/usable, and relevant for policymakers. In addition, WG1 identifies scientific, infrastructure, and governance gaps. Finally, WG1 develops a long-term strategic roadmap to ensure the sustainability, visibility and uptake of INFOTECH-DATA output beyond the lifetime of the Action.

A science communication coordinator (SCC) is responsible for communication towards the outside world, together with WG5. Grant awarding coordinators (GACs) are responsible for organising calls for grants. These leadership positions together form the core group, which has delegated decision-making authority to make quick decisions for the Action.

By building open-access databases and common methodologies, we accelerate the development of healthy, sustainable, and affordable food products — together.
- [About Us](https://infotechdata.eu/about-us/): The food industry still relies on trial-and-error product development, which is too slow to meet urgent needs for sustainable, affordable, healthy and biodiversity-friendly foods. Each company or research group uses its own methods to assess techno-functional properties like solubility, foaming, gelling and emulsifying, leading to inconsistent data, which is non-reusable for predictive modelling purposes. The lack of standardised methods and shared databases prevents the creation of predictive models that could accelerate product innovation. Although other fields have been transformed by data science and AI revolutions, food science lags behind, mainly due to poor data comparability, missing metadata, and limited accessibility. Community building around harmonised methods and data sharing is missing, which is essential for long-term success in food development and impact.
